Toyota is poised to release the 2026 Tacoma midsize pickup trucks at dealerships this winter, featuring two engine options, eight trims, two cab styles, and two bed lengths.
Buyers can select between two- or four-wheel-drive configurations, along with updated colors and designs on certain trims.
The standard engine is a turbocharged i-Force gasoline engine producing 278 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Gas models are also available with a six-speed manual transmission, achieving an EPA-estimated highway fuel efficiency of 26 mpg.
An additional option is the 4-cylinder turbo i-Force Max Hybrid, generating 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and offering an estimated combined fuel economy of 23 mpg. Hybrid versions include a standard 2,400-watt AC power supply in both the cabin and bed. Most hybrids come equipped with 4WD.
The Tacoma’s maximum towing capacity is 6,500 pounds, with a payload capacity of up to 1,705 pounds. The double cab models come with either a 5- or 6-foot bed, while the two-door XtraCab features a 6-foot bed, along with lockable storage behind the front seats. The passenger seat can also fold flat to serve as a workspace.
