City Rent a Truck has unveiled its new subsidiary, City Truck Equipment, aimed at providing comprehensive truck upfitting services that deliver high-quality and job-ready builds.
According to a press release, City Truck Equipment originated as an internal initiative designed to tackle issues like delays and quality inconsistencies when relying on external upfitters. By relocating the work in-house, City Rent a Truck has enhanced efficiency, quality control, and turnaround times, while also recognizing similar challenges faced by its customers.
“We found that depending on external upfitters prevented us from fulfilling our customers’ needs within their expected timelines,” stated Jeff Schuetz, the president & CEO. “When your core value is ‘Customer First’, you must ensure every decision enhances their experience.”
Transforming from an Internal Solution to an Industry Leader
What started as a modest in-house effort has grown into one of the quickest expanding upfitting companies in the nation, as highlighted in the announcement. Over the last five years, City Truck Equipment has tested its builds in some of the most demanding conditions: rental environments.
“We have spent five years refining our upfitting process for our rental fleet while observing their performance in challenging field conditions,” remarked Shaefer Schuetz, vice president of business development. “Now that we have perfected our methods, we’re excited to extend these services to our customers.”
City Truck Equipment operates from its newly established headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri, with additional locations in Olathe, Kansas; Houston, Texas; Atlanta, Georgia; and St. Louis, Missouri.
“Throughout the years, we have become skilled in nearly every conceivable truck configuration,” added James McKinley, vice president of operations. “The diversity of our rental fleet has challenged us to excel in creating builds ranging from service bodies to tri-axle dumps and everything in between.”
City Truck Equipment’s offerings include mechanic body crane trucks, flatbeds, reel transport beds, framer bodies, contractor bodies, van storage systems, and more, all backed by internal teams specializing in engineering, fabrication, electrical, and hydraulic solutions. Both companies will continue to operate under the same leadership team.
