RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (KABC) — Authorities have reported that two individuals were apprehended while attempting to steal equipment from a fire truck in San Bernardino County, which was present to assist with the Santa Ana wind event that occurred last week.

Details of the Incident

The San Bernardino National Forest Law Enforcement and Investigations team stated that the incident took place last Friday at approximately 3 a.m. in Rancho Cucamonga.

Location and Target

According to investigators, the suspects drove into the back parking lot of the Hilton Inn Express & Suites on Milliken Avenue and parked their vehicle close to a fire truck from Strike Team 6601C, a group mobilized during Santa Ana wind situations.

The Theft

Upon exiting their Jeep, the two men “forcibly opened three locked compartments of the engine and removed vital fire equipment,” investigators noted.

Suspect Description

Both suspects remain unidentified and are still on the run. Law enforcement officials described their vehicle as a red two-door Jeep Wrangler featuring a black soft top and tan seats, with a California license plate beginning with the number 6.

Physical Characteristics

One of the suspects is estimated to be between 5 feet 7 inches and 6 feet tall, with a medium to large build and a thin mustache. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black knit hat, a red jacket with yellow details, and blue pants.

The second suspect is described as being between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, having a medium to husky build. He was last seen in a blue baseball cap adorned with a white logo, a blue long-sleeve shirt, and baggy jeans.
