MACON, Ga. (WGXA) — The Second Street Bridge, located over Riverside Drive in Macon-Bibb County, is closed indefinitely following damage caused by a vehicle accident.

Engineers from Georgia DOT are organizing repairs after an equipment truck collided with the bridge. A state inspector has concluded that the bridge’s beams need fixing. Both lanes heading east and west are shut down, though Riverside Drive remains open beneath the bridge. Detours and signs are in position to guide drivers.
