Mobile Help Truck Supports Communities
TOMAHAWK, Wis. (WJFW) — The Mobile Help Truck is an initiative from the Good News Project organization that provides medical equipment to various communities across the U.S.
According to Alan Froehlich, who drives the Mobile Help Truck, the organization has been operating for about 25 years and is expanding its efforts beyond the United States.
“They even travel to Saint Lucia occasionally to lend a hand,” Froehlich noted. “This year, they’re constructing a playground for local children, showcasing their commitment to community service in the Caribbean too.”
In February, the Good News Project launched the Mobile Help Truck to assist communities in Wisconsin by supplying sanitized medical equipment.
“We currently cover 11 communities in north-central Wisconsin. For example, we visit Tomahawk, Rhinelander, and Merrill on Wednesdays,” Froehlich explained.
Froehlich mentioned the truck is available in Tomahawk from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for accepting donations, returns, or friendly visits.
“If someone requires specific equipment delivered, they can call the office, and we’ll ensure it’s taken care of here, eliminating the need for them to travel all the way to Wausau,” he added.
During a recent visit, Madeline Conrad from Sayner returned equipment she borrowed for a leg injury and expressed her gratitude: “I was unable to walk, but with the wheelchair, ice machine, and walker they provided, I managed significantly better. They were fantastic in not only providing equipment but also instructing me on how to use it. Thank you for everything.”
While Froehlich views himself merely as the delivery person, he is touched by the positive experiences he encounters in the community.
“These moments really make it all worthwhile,” Froehlich said. “There’s a noticeable need, and I didn’t fully grasp it until I started working here. People are incredibly grateful for the support this program offers.”
