The Life of the “World’s Hottest Truck Driver”

A FIFO worker known as the “world’s hottest truck driver” has shared her impressive six-figure earnings, which she claims have enabled her to enjoy her “best life.” Based in Perth, Ashlea took to social media to offer insights into her hectic work life in remote Western Australia.

A Demanding Schedule

As a dump truck driver working in the Pilbara mines, Ashlea follows a 14-day-on and 14-day-off rotation. Her workdays start at 4 am and typically involve grueling 12-hour shifts in extreme heat. Despite the challenges, Ashlea enjoys a lucrative salary of $120,000 per year for just six months of work, leading her to declare that she has an “awesome life.”

The Key to Her Lifestyle

In a recent TikTok video, Ashlea described how she manages her enviable lifestyle while working in the mining sector. “I have two weeks off every month, which gives me ample time to do amazing things,” she explained, prioritizing exciting experiences like events, travel, and fine dining.

Factors Contributing to Her Success

Ashlea noted several factors that contribute to her lifestyle, including being child-free and single. “I don’t have any debts, and I own my car,” she shared, adding that selling her investment property has improved her financial situation significantly.

Understanding Her Earnings

Ashlea is open about her earnings, stating the industry pay varies, but she began as a trainee at $36.50 per hour. After three months, her pay rose to $43.50 per hour, eventually reaching around $94,000 to $95,000 annually for her first year. After switching contractors, her rate increased to $51.50 per hour, with bonuses adding an extra $10,000, resulting in an annual income of approximately $122,000.

The Path to Truck Driving

Prior to trucking, Ashlea worked a variety of jobs in utilities, which provided her with essential FIFO experience. Despite the demanding work conditions, her persistence eventually led to her securing a truck driver traineeship, where she received valuable training and developed her skills.

Balancing Work and Life

Though working in harsh conditions can be tough, Ashlea values her two-week breaks each month, allowing her to travel and unwind. “While working can be exhausting and isolating, the rewards of time off make it worthwhile,” she stated. As she plans for her future, Ashlea aims to save and potentially invest in property, highlighting her aspirations for financial stability while enjoying her current lifestyle in FIFO mining.
