International Truck introduced the MV Series, a new medium-duty Class 6/7 vehicle, during the 2018 Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, Indiana. This vehicle represents the final component of International’s Project Horizon product refresh, which aims to enhance cab design while including driver-focused features found in the company’s Class 8 trucks.
Michael Cancelliere, president of truck and parts, stated, “Project Horizon focuses on offering new efficiency levels to customers, ensuring exceptional driver satisfaction, and utilizing the most advanced technologies available.” He added that the MV Series fulfills these objectives by offering unmatched reliability and increased productivity for drivers, maintainers, and upfitters.
MV Series Driver-Focused Design

The MV Series was crafted for straightforward application configurations, featuring redesigned cab doors with a lower glass edge and removed vent window, providing drivers with a single, large view to enhance side visibility and minimize blind spots.
With modified door shapes and side glass, the positioning of optional pedestal mirrors has been optimized, allowing drivers to turn their heads less and focus more on the road while decreasing neck strain. A new gauge cluster with a digital display provides real-time vehicle monitoring and key alerts, and offers up to 15 customizable digital gauges.
Advanced Electrical System and Connectivity
The MV Series also features Diamond Logic, an advanced electrical system that simplifies the integration of chassis and body equipment, enabling customers to automate tasks. With nearly 200 factory-equipped capabilities for body integration and driver efficiency, the system allows extensive customizable functions.
Jeff Sass, senior vice president of sales and marketing, mentioned, “Our Diamond Logic system excels in facilitating control and communication between trucks and body equipment.” He emphasized the company’s pioneering role in custom programmable chassis electronics and multiplexing, partnering with end users and body builders to enhance productivity and integration.
Additionally, the MV Series can be fitted with the OnCommand Connection platform, which offers advanced remote diagnostics and over-the-air programming. This allows drivers and fleet managers to initiate authorized engine programming via a secure Wi-Fi connection, and telematics services are available through International Truck dealers or on OnCommandconnection.com.
Designed for Easy Upfitting

Based on feedback from customers and Truck Equipment Manufacturers throughout the design phase, the MV Series has been developed for seamless integration with any body solution, allowing for easy configurability across various applications.
The MV Series is offered in various configurations including regular cab, extended cab, and crew cab, with options for either the Cummins B6.7 or L9 engines. The standard transmission is the Allison 1000 HS automatic, with an optional Allison FuelSense 2.0 featuring DynActive Shifting, allowing for variable shift points depending on vehicle configuration and operating conditions.
