GREENFIELD — The new owner of two local dealerships from McGovern Automotive Group is set to launch Greenfield Truck & Equipment on Beacon Street in the coming weeks.

Alex Castergini Jr. recently acquired the McGovern Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram at 39 Beacon St. and McGovern Chevrolet at 54 Main St. Initially considering closing the Beacon Street location due to relocation demands from manufacturers, he opted to keep it open after realizing a gap in the local market.

“I recognized a need in the community. We had the facility available, so we decided to make use of it,” he expressed on Monday.

This dealership will serve as an authorized retailer for Bobcat grounds maintenance equipment and will also feature products from BOSS snowplows, ECHO power tools, and Billy Goat turf items. Additionally, they are exploring options for trailer brands and will provide used commercial trucks, including dump and plow trucks.

“Our aim is to foster a local, community-oriented atmosphere,” said Castergini, who moved from Connecticut to Easthampton. “Service will be the cornerstone of our business, and we plan to offer complimentary pickup and delivery within Franklin County.”

Greenfield Truck & Equipment will handle repairs for all brands and will offer chain and lawnmower blade sharpening services. “This is going to be substantial,” noted Service Manager Scott Martowski, adding that mobile repairs will be part of their offerings.

Martowski, who previously worked with McGovern, brings 14 years of experience in the Greenfield automotive sector. Parts Manager Andy Billiel has 25 years of experience, while Service Manager Steve Mansfield has around seven years. “We are well-acquainted with the region and its residents,” Martowski stated. The store anticipates employing about six staff members when operational.

The opening hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Customers can find more information at greenfieldtruck.com or by calling 413-668-5221.
