Daimler Truck Financial Services and Geico Launch Connected Insurance
Daimler Truck Financial Services has teamed up with Geico to introduce Connected Insurance, an innovative telematics-based program aimed at assisting owner-operators of Freightliner and Western Star trucks, as well as small fleets, in reducing their commercial vehicle insurance expenses while enhancing safety on the road.
The initiative leverages Geico’s DriveEasy Pro platform, enabling customers to voluntarily share live Detroit Connect telematics data without the need for additional diagnostic or dashcam equipment. By utilizing already available vehicle data, insurers can evaluate risks more effectively and streamline the claims process, with qualifying drivers able to save as much as 10% on their insurance premiums.
Kevin Bangston, President and CEO of Daimler Truck Financial Services North America, expressed that this partnership with Geico offers a smart, data-driven insurance solution that helps clients cut down one of their biggest operational costs.
According to Chris Sions, Geico’s head of partnerships, this collaboration bolsters the insurer’s nationwide expansion into the commercial trucking sector. He noted that “real-time data from Daimler Truck’s telematics platform enables us to better evaluate risks, incentivize safe driving practices, and provide substantial savings for our clients.”
This initiative comes at a vital time as small carriers and owner-operators increasingly face rising insurance costs, which have been identified as the fourth most significant challenge for fleets in the recent American Transportation Research Institute report.
