KANSAS CITY, Mo., November 17, 2025–(BUSINESS WIRE)–City Rent a Truck has announced the launch of its new sister company, City Truck Equipment, dedicated to providing high-quality, job-ready truck customizations.

City Truck Equipment originated as a solution to address delays and quality issues with external providers. By establishing their own upfitting capabilities, City Rent a Truck enhanced efficiency and quality control, soon realizing that their customers faced similar challenges.

“Depending on outside upfitters meant we couldn’t meet our customers’ timelines,” stated Jeff Schuetz, President & CEO. “When prioritizing customer satisfaction, every decision must aim to enhance their experience.”

From Internal Solution to Industry Leader

What started as a small in-house initiative has transformed into one of the fastest-growing upfitting providers in the country. Over the last five years, City Truck Equipment has tested its builds in the demanding rental market.

“After upfitting our rental fleet and watching these trucks perform under tough conditions for five years, we’re eager to offer our services to customers,” said Shaefer Schuetz, Vice President of Business Development.

City Truck Equipment operates from its new headquarters in Kansas City, MO, with additional locations in Olathe, KS; Houston, TX; Atlanta, GA; and St. Louis, MO. “Our extensive rental fleet has compelled us to master various truck configurations,” commented James McKinley, Vice President of Operations.

Specialized Capabilities

City Truck Equipment specializes in various vehicle configurations, including mechanic body crane trucks, flatbeds, and contractor bodies, all backed by in-house expertise in engineering, fabrication, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Remaining focused on their promise, “Building Trucks That Build America,” the team at City Truck Equipment comprises builders and problem-solvers who recognize the importance of reliable fleet performance and minimizing downtime.

“Our mission is unwavering,” Schuetz concluded. “We aim to create memorable customer experiences by fostering lasting relationships and showing genuine appreciation.”

Both companies operate under the same leadership team, ensuring that customers continue to receive the service, responsiveness, and quality synonymous with the City brand for over 60 years.

About City Truck Equipment

City Truck Equipment customizes and upfits work trucks and vans for vocational fleets, managing each step of the build process in-house with specialized engineering, fabrication, electrical, and hydraulic skills.
