The Trucks, Parts, Service Distributor of the Year award program is back, showcasing an exciting new lineup of finalists!

Sponsored by the Commercial Vehicle Solutions Network (CVSN), Cummins, High Bar Brands, Interstate Billing Service, and Procede Software, this year’s finalists include a previous winner, two former finalists, and two newcomers, all chosen based on support from the independent aftermarket during the open nomination phase held in spring.

Over the next four months, TPS will highlight this year’s finalists, showcasing what makes them stand out, leading up to the DOTY award ceremony on January 20, 2026, during Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week.

Today, we feature Truck Equipment Inc., which is participating in the Distributor of the Year program for the second time (previously in 2019).

Truck Equipment IncWhen was Truck Equipment established, and by whom?

Founded in 1959 by Isadore Kwaterski and Cletus Pierquet, Truck Equipment expanded its parts departmentin 1978 under Lynn Schroeder, who became the owner of the business in 2005. The company remains family-owned, now led by the second generation of the Schroeder family: Matt, Mike, and Mandy.

How many locations does your business operate? (Please list the cities)

We currently have five locations: Green Bay, Wisconsin (headquarters), Appleton, Wisconsin, Wausau, Wisconsin, Bloomer, Wisconsin, and Escanaba, Michigan.

What is the size of your workforce?

We employ 85 people.

How does your company attract new talent?

Our exceptional human resources director utilizes our core values to find candidates that fit our roles, working closely with department heads and using various resources to attract qualified personnel. Recruitment is an ongoing initiative shared company-wide, as you never know when a potential new teammate may arise. It is rewarding when existing team members refer new applicants, reflecting our organizational culture.

What sets your business apart?

Truck Equipment is deeply committed to family values and our outstanding team. This focus has been a defining factor in our history and drives a culture of trust, loyalty, and a shared vision to excel. Our commitment to empathy, teamwork, and integrity distinguishes us in the market and helps build meaningful relationships.

What challenges do you foresee in 2025?

We continue to face challenges due to the technician shortage. Finding skilled technicians remains a top difficulty, impacting both our service and parts sales, as many of our best salespeople are experienced service technicians.

Why do you think you were nominated for this award by the heavy-duty aftermarket?

We believe our nomination reflects our dedication to progress, our family-oriented culture, and our exceptional team. By prioritizing our core values and nurturing strong relationships with customers and suppliers, we stay committed to our responsibilities and work to simplify business transactions with Truck Equipment.

Stay tuned for more insights in two weeks about the 2025 award finalist, Truck Supply Companies.
