Vital Role of Truckers and Farmers in India
The trucking and farming sectors have been fundamental to India’s strength for generations. Despite their relentless efforts during challenging times, these communities often lead sedentary lifestyles, which can compromise their health and immunity. A recent survey by Castrol India found that one in three truckers and farmers reported health issues such as back pain, poor sleep, fatigue, and joint pain. Alarmingly, only 11% expressed an interest in pursuing a healthier lifestyle, making it a low priority among them.
Concerns for Health
The study highlights that over 68% of respondents are worried about their own health and that of their families. However, a lack of interest and time has led nearly two-thirds (65%) of them to neglect any form of fitness activities, reflecting a passive attitude towards their well-being.
Yoga for Well-Being
To emphasize the significance of yoga for a healthier lifestyle, Castrol India has collaborated with the Yoga Institute of Mumbai on International Yoga Day. This partnership aims to refresh its health program for truckers and farmers, integrating a tailored set of yoga postures (aasanas) to promote well-being and healthy habits in their lives.
Support from Castrol India
Sandeep Sangwan, Managing Director of Castrol India, stated, “Our truckers and farmers have been working tirelessly to ensure our daily lives remain uninterrupted during these extraordinary times. We commend them for their commitment to keeping India moving. Castrol is dedicated to fostering a culture of fitness through initiatives like Castrol CRB Truck Aasana and Khet Aasana for these communities.”
Cultural Tribute and Encourage Health
The initiative will include Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda, who will honor these communities for their dedication and encourage them to make health a priority.
Government Support
According to Shripad Naik, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) at the Ministry of AYUSH, “This program aligns with the Indian government’s vision of yoga as a way of life that reaches every household. Congratulations to Castrol India for starting this initiative, which ensures the health of our truck drivers and farmers, enabling them to continue their vital support for our nation.”
Impact Over Two Years
Over the last two years, Castrol India has positively influenced the lives of over 325,000 truckers and farmers through the Castrol CRB Turbomax Truck Aasana and CRB Plus Khet Aasana, reaching more than 50 cities and 2,000 villages, highlighting the importance of these aasanas to improve their quality of life.
