Who are you and where are you from?
My name is Eddie Scott, and I proudly hail from Sunderland. For this project, I’m representing myself as Ice Road Trucker.
What is it you do?
I create and perform pop music.
How long have you been doing it?
I composed my very first terrible song around the age of 15 and have been involved in bands ever since. My most recent not-so-great song was completed just last Tuesday.
What inspires you?
I’ve been writing and performing for various bands and projects for over a decade, drawing inspiration from a wide range of artists, from Fall Out Boy to Carly Rae Jepsen. However, Randy Newman has likely influenced my work the most profoundly. My latest project is predominantly inspired by 90s pop-punk and power-pop, particularly Fountains of Wayne. Above all, I aim to make people happy and have fun with my music—that’s the essence of my inspiration.
Tell us about your music.
The name Ice Road Trucker applies to the songs I choose to perform myself instead of writing for others. I believe these tracks wouldn’t suit anyone else, making this the best way to share them publicly while earning a little from streaming. My music is fun pop-rock storytelling, combining a lighthearted approach with deeply earnest songwriting. I enjoy these songs and hope others will as well.
What have you got coming up in the future?
I plan to keep releasing music. I have three singles queued up for release, and then I aim to record more and share those too. I would also love to perform these songs live at some point, if anyone is willing to offer me a gig.
Where can people find out more about you?
You can find me on Instagram at @iceroadtruckered. I decided to delete Twitter because it affected my mood negatively, and I don’t believe in Facebook. So, Instagram is where you’ll find me online. It feels like a space for attractive people, like myself, and I often feel at home among my fellow virtual influencers. You’re also welcome to chat with me in person—I regularly visit The Ivy House pub for quiz night on Wednesday evenings.
