Supporting Veterans in Transportation and Logistics

Veterans seeking employment in the transportation and logistics sector have a valuable ally in the Troops to Transportation and Logistics Program. Initiated by Corporate America Supports You, this initiative aims to connect veterans with job opportunities and trucking firms in search of qualified applicants.

As stated on T2T’s website, the program is dedicated to “directly placing wounded warriors, returning service members, veterans, and their spouses or caregivers in an industry that offers limitless opportunities for training and employment, whether locally, regionally, or globally.”

David Persing shared his experience of transitioning from the Army in 2010, revealing that despite his preparation, things did not go as planned when he returned to school. A fellow soldier encouraged him to consider a career in trucking.

“Having driven trucks while serving in the Army, I thought it would be easy,” Persing recalled. “However, I had much to learn, and the instructors at T2T were excellent…I strongly recommend this program to veterans seeking a promising career.”

If veterans lack the necessary skills, T2TL offers training in addition to connecting them with employers. Shawn Leonard, Senior Volunteer Advisor at T2TL, stated, “The military develops essential skills that translate well into various industries, and we are poised to link our heroes with suitable career paths.” Given the vastness of the transportation and logistics field, there will be numerous training and job opportunities available for those interested.

How the Program Supports Veterans

The program provides various forms of assistance to veterans in search of employment:

  • Applicants can register for support via the specified address.
  • After registration, an Applicant Specialist will reach out to understand their needs and guide them through job readiness or placement services.
  • Applicant Specialists offer personalized assistance during the job search, including answering queries, conducting mock interviews, and providing guidance on job readiness and placement with corporate partners.
  • Job-ready applicants will have the opportunity to participate in an “Applicant-Recruiter Direct-Connect Placement Program.”
  • Ongoing assistance is available from Applicant Specialists throughout the employment search and placement process, accessible via email or phone for one-on-one or group sessions.

Corporate America Supports You has been active for seven years and continues to expand its reach. Donations partially fund the program, with an independent review confirming that 84 cents of every dollar raised directly supports its initiatives. For further details, visit their main website.
