Windsor Meat Theft

Thieves targeted Ontario, carrying out a meat heist in Windsor and stealing a truck, trailer, and equipment in Douro-Dummer, a township in central-eastern Ontario.

The Windsor Police Service (WPS) is currently looking into the theft of boneless beef chuck roast valued at approximately US$160,000 (around $222,000) from a parked tractor-trailer.

This incident occurred on August 2, as indicated in a WPS news release. At around 2:30 p.m., a semi-truck connected to a Coast 2 Coast Xpress trailer was parked in a lot on Cabana Rd. E. The trailer was loaded with 530 boxes of meat.

Around 6:30 p.m., police reported that a dark grey Jeep Rubicon and a white Cascadia Freightliner entered the lot. Two unidentified males were seen breaking into the semi-truck and fleeing with the trailer.

One suspect is described as having a slim build, with long dark curly hair and dressed entirely in black. The other was wearing dark pants, a light-colored shirt, and a dark baseball cap.

Authorities believe that the stolen trailer and meat have likely been transported along Highway 401. Both items are still missing, police stated.

Theft in Douro-Dummer

In a separate incident, the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a truck, trailer, and two Kubotas being stolen from a commercial property in Douro-Dummer.

On August 14, an OPP officer was dispatched to investigate stolen equipment from a site on County Road 4 in Douro-Dummer Township. The property owner received a call indicating one of their loaders was found abandoned on Douro 8th Line, and their white company pickup truck was located nearby.

Upon arriving at the scene, the officer noted that a trailer and a mini excavator were also missing. The theft seems to have occurred in the early morning hours of August 14. The stolen items include a black J&J Model LD2 flatbed trailer and an orange Kubota model KX40, which have not yet been recovered.
