Westin Automotive Inc., known for its aftermarket accessories for trucks, SUVs, and commercial vehicles, has announced its acquisition of Unique Truck Accessories (UTA). Based in Michigan, UTA is recognized for its BRUTE brand, which includes commercial-grade toolboxes, flatbeds, and cargo management systems. This acquisition enhances Westin’s position in work truck, fleet, and utility markets, reinforcing its dedication to American innovation and manufacturing excellence, as stated in a press release.
Established in 1992 by Stanley Lake, Unique Truck Accessories has built a reputation for creativity and robust craftsmanship. Over the years, UTA has introduced various industry innovations, such as the trailer tongue toolbox and the BRUTE BedSafe roller drawer system. UTA’s products have become essential for contractors, fleets, and professional trades due to their focus on domestic production and innovation.
Westin has had a long-standing relationship with UTA, acting as a key distributor and marketing partner for BRUTE products across North America for more than 13 years. With this acquisition, Westin fully incorporates UTA’s manufacturing capabilities, patents, and product lines into its corporate framework.
Bob West, CEO of Westin Automotive, commented, “This acquisition reaffirms Westin’s dedication to American manufacturing and innovation. UTA has been a reliable partner for many years, and integrating their capabilities into Westin allows us to enhance value, efficiency, and product variety for our customers.”
Enhancement of Shipping Times and Efficiency Through UTA Integration
Westin indicates that this acquisition comes amidst a rising demand for commercial storage solutions, cargo management, and specialized upfitting. By merging UTA’s operations, Westin anticipates a notable reduction in shipping times, improved engineering practices, better scalability of production, and increased overall efficiency. Both companies already share many key distribution partners and customers, ensuring an effortless transition.
Tony Savasta, Westin Automotive’s Vice President of Marketing, stated, “By fully integrating the BRUTE product line and streamlining our supply chain, we will hasten our delivery process, deepen our entry into fleet and utility markets, and enhance our marketing initiatives to highlight the strengths of our combined brands.”
UTA’s facility and workforce in Sturgis, Michigan, will continue to play a crucial role in product development and manufacturing. Westin plans to invest in enhancements to the facility, tooling, technology, and sales to elevate the BRUTE brand across accessory, industrial, fleet, and utility sectors.
The acquisition is expected to create substantial opportunities for new product development, enabling Westin to offer a fully integrated product range that includes truck steps, front-end protection, bumpers, tonneau covers, bed caps, cargo management, and a wider variety of toolbox and utility storage solutions. Westin’s sales team will extend its market reach into public sectors, energy industries, emergency services, and vocational fleets.
