Trucker’s 18-Wheeler with Impressive Mileage

A truck driver purchased an 18-wheeler in 1999, initially clocked at just 28 miles. Remarkably, the truck is still in use today, with the owner highlighting its astonishing mileage, which he still drives daily and has no plans to sell.

Life on the Road

Truckers often rack up thousands of miles during their careers, relying on dependable and comfortable vehicles that can operate continuously without issues. A Facebook account called Chris Kuna Drive shares real trucker experiences through videos and interviews. This platform is geared towards trucking job opportunities for U.S. citizens and green card holders.

An Eye-Opening Interview

One particular interview from this platform caught attention when the driver disclosed that his truck had traveled a staggering 3.5 million miles. When asked about the model year, he responded, “1999,” making the truck 27 years old as of now!

Remarkable Mileage Breakdown

Upon questioning about the mileage, he stated, “three and a half million.” He bought the truck brand new, noting that it had 28 miles at the time and still has the original Caterpillar engine inside.

Future Plans and Sentiments

Curious about overhauls, he mentioned that the truck had undergone three of them and is equipped with an 18-speed transmission. When asked how many more miles he intends to drive before retiring, he expressed a strong attachment, stating he has no intention of selling, even with retirement on the horizon.

“I don’t know, man. I’ll never get rid of it. I should retire this year, but I don’t know. See how it goes,” he said.

Community Reactions

This bond likely contributes to his reluctance to part ways with the truck. In the comments, viewers shared interesting insights and reactions. One commenter speculated how profitable the truck might be: “Dude is making bank off that truck probably bought it for $80,000 brand new plus $60,000 for 3 overhauls $140,000 and it probably made $2 million profit.”

Another commented on truckers’ common retirement claims, saying, “You know how many old people I truck around that tell me they are going to ‘retire this year’ and they never do.” Meanwhile, another user provided a calculation of the yearly mileage of approximately 129,629 miles, while yet another noted that he averages about a million miles per engine overhaul.
