The world is full of oddities, and no one knows this better than truckers and truck stop employees. Recently, I reached out to the BuzzFeed Community, asking truck drivers and rest stop workers to share their weirdest, funniest, and most bizarre experiences. Here are some of the most astonishing stories I’ve come across:

1. Soup on the Road

One driver recounted overtaking a slow vehicle and discovering the driver was eating a bowl of soup while driving. The driver thought maybe a thermos would have been a better choice, or perhaps avoiding liquids altogether while behind the wheel would be safer.

2. Glittery Distractions

Another company driver mentioned a memorable moment at a traffic light when he spotted a man with two shiny clamshell pasties covering his chest. Sometimes, truckers see much more than the average driver due to their elevated position on the road.

3. The Squirrel Incident

A rest stop attendant shared a story about a regular customer who brought a squirrel in his coat pocket. After being told pets needed leashes, he returned with the squirrel on a leash, often seen around town perched on his shoulder.

4. An Unpleasant Discovery

One employee working in a truck stop’s restaurant witnessed a custodian facing a horrific sight in the men’s restroom, where someone had smeared feces on virtually every surface. The custodian quickly suited up and blasted the area with a pressure washer, a scene both terrifying and humorous.

5. An Unusual Rescue

A story from a trucker who got stuck in mud at an Amish farm highlighted the community’s resourcefulness. An Amish man returned with a team of Clydesdale horses to help free the truck, a bizarre yet fascinating experience for the driver.

6. A Dog’s Embarrassment

In a humorous encounter, a trucker was awakened by a woman opening his cab door at dawn, prompting his dog to leap up and, in a twist of fate, fart in her face, sending her gagging away.

7. The Dramatic Restroom Encounter
