Health Concerns Among Truckers and Farmers

The trucking and farming sectors have long been the foundation of India’s economy. Despite their relentless efforts during tough times, many individuals in these communities lead sedentary lifestyles, which impacts their health and immunity. A recent study by Castrol India found that one in three truckers and farmers reported health issues such as back pain, fatigue, and joint pain. Alarmingly, only 11% expressed a willingness to adopt healthier lifestyles, indicating that improving health ranks low on their list of priorities.

Family Health Concerns Yet Limited Action

Interestingly, over two-thirds (68%) of participants voiced concern for their own health and that of their families. However, the study highlights a lack of proactive measures towards wellness, as nearly two-thirds (65%) admitted to not engaging in any fitness activities due to disinterest and time constraints. Even amidst health concerns, one in three individuals stated they were not making any effort to lead healthier lives.

Promoting Yoga for Better Wellbeing

In recognition of the significance of yoga for overall health, Castrol India has collaborated with the Yoga Institute of Mumbai to renew its health initiative for truckers and farmers. This program aims to integrate healthy practices into their daily routines through a series of curated yoga asanas, especially during International Yoga Day.

Castrol’s Commitment to Community Health

Sandeep Sangwan, Managing Director of Castrol India Ltd., emphasized the dedication of truckers and farmers during these unusual times. He stated, “We commend these individuals for their unwavering commitment to keeping India operational. Castrol is dedicated to supporting these communities by fostering a culture of fitness through our CRB Truck Aasana and Khet Aasana programs.”

New Helpline and Celebrity Endorsement

As part of this health initiative, Castrol India will launch a specialized helpline to provide information about the curated yoga asanas. Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda will also participate, honoring the contributions of these communities and encouraging them to prioritize their health.

Encouragement for a Healthier Lifestyle

Hooda highlighted the necessity of changing the health perspectives of these communities, stating, “In these challenging times, promoting yoga is vital. This International Yoga Day, I hope to inspire truckers and farmers nationwide to embrace yoga and strive for a healthier existence.”

Government Support and Outreach

According to Shripad Naik, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of AYUSH, this program aligns with the Indian government’s vision of making yoga a fundamental part of daily life. He congratulated Castrol India for its initiative to ensure the health of truck drivers and farmers who play a critical role in supporting the nation. Over the past two years, Castrol India has impacted the lives of more than 325,000 truckers and farmers through their wellness programs, reaching over 50 cities and 2,000 villages.
