Introduction to a Unique Truck
YREKA – One of the freight semis from Stidham Trucking Inc. in Yreka is drawing special attention. Richard Stidham, the co-owner, mentions that it also aims to increase awareness about breast cancer.
Distinctive Design
The truck features a pink exterior with white accents and is adorned with pink ribbons. The slogan “Trucking for a cure!” is prominently displayed on its side.
Origin of the Truck
“We purchased it last year and had it factory-painted pink,” Stidham explained. Upon its departure from the Kenworth Truck Factory in Kent, Wash., it was awarded the title of Chassis of the Week.
Personal Motivation
Stidham was motivated to get the pink truck in honor of friends who have been touched by breast cancer. He remarked on the truck’s popularity and the attention it garners.
Journey and Public Interaction
This functioning truck has journeyed as far as South Dakota. Stidham noted that drivers of the truck receive numerous honks of support from fellow travelers, who are often eager to capture photos of the eye-catching semi.
Community Engagement
The truck has participated in various events, including the Susan G. Komen Walk-Run in Oregon last year and the Yreka Breast Cancer Walk this month, as well as a car show in Medford.
Impact and Inspiration
Stidham shared a powerful quote from a breast cancer survivor, whose spouse works for Stidham Trucking: “If the truck gets one woman to consider a mammogram, then it has fulfilled its purpose,” he recalled. Its influence has even prompted a Florida trucking company owner to replicate the initiative by ordering a similar pink truck in tribute to his wife and daughter, both of whom have faced breast cancer.
