The trucking sector is a significant international economic force, currently valued at $2.2 trillion and projected to reach $3.4 trillion by 2030. However, in 2022, large truck operations were linked to 166,853 accidents, resulting in 72,137 injuries and 4,768 fatalities, with total costs from these crashes exceeding $470 billion.

The economic implications are alarming; for instance, the average cost associated with accidents causing injuries is roughly $200,000, while fatal accidents can surpass $3.6 million. Settlements typically fall between $100,000 and $500,000, but in extreme cases, they can escalate to $2 million or even $10 million, especially when several complicating factors are involved.

Moreover, trucking businesses are increasingly burdened with expenses related to towing, storage, cargo claims, complex liability scenarios, and extensive federal and state compliance requirements. Effective claims management has become vital for survival in this challenging landscape.

Claims Processing Costs and Market Insights

In 2025, hourly rates for claims processing services across industries typically range from $25 to $49 per hour, though costs can vary widely by region and company size. Service providers in the U.S., India, and the Philippines offer competitive rates, averaging below $25 per hour, while firms from Pakistan charge the highest, between $50 and $99 per hour.

Company size greatly influences pricing: firms with 10-49, 50-199, and 1,000-4,999 employees are likely to charge under $25 per hour, whereas those with 200-499, 1-9, and 500-999 employees typically have higher rates, averaging $25-$49 per hour. Understanding these pricing factors is crucial for trucking companies and TPAs looking to optimize their claims management budgets.

Below are seven trucking claims management firms to consider in 2025 and 2026.

Veritas Claims

Veritas Claims is a national third-party administrator that specializes in insurance claims specifically for trucking and heavy equipment. Unlike generalists, Veritas’s business model caters to the unique needs of the transportation sector. Their services range from trucking and equipment appraisals to subrogation, towing and storage resolution, freight claims, general liability management, and tailored TPA services.

Leveraging strong industry connections with insurance carriers, TPAs, and service providers, Veritas navigates complex claims more efficiently than generalist firms. The company utilizes advanced technology and data analytics to provide tailored solutions and has received positive feedback for their responsiveness, expertise, and negotiation skills, particularly regarding high towing fees.

Gallagher Bassett

Established in 1962, Gallagher Bassett processes a significant number of claims annually. Their offerings for the trucking sector include workers’ compensation and auto liability claims. The company also features a Transportation Major Case Unit staffed by experienced professionals focused on severe transportation claims.

Sedgwick

Sedgwick operates globally, employing staff in over 80 countries to manage commercial trucking claims, including bodily injury and auto liability. They introduced their Digital Adjust Pro platform in 2025, enhancing desk adjusting capabilities across various claims types.

Davies North America

Davies North America boasts over 40 years of expertise in trucking and heavy equipment claims. They utilize a hybrid model combining in-house adjusters and a nationwide network of independent adjusters for optimal flexibility and reliability.

RVCS

RVCS (Risk & Verification Claims Services) specializes in the adjudication of transportation and heavy equipment claims, collaborating with major national names like FedEx. Their dual market oversight enhances their capability to handle complicated international transportation claims.

Frontier Adjusters

A network of independent adjusters, Frontier Adjusters, focuses on commercial transportation and heavy equipment claims, offering services such as field investigations and appraisals. Their prompt response times are particularly beneficial for over-the-road incidents.

Crawford & Company

Crawford & Company is a globally recognized claims management entity providing a full range of services including loss adjusting and risk management consultations. Their size and commitment to innovative technology position them as a stable player in the market.

Choosing the Right Partner in a Competitive Field

Given truck accident settlements typically range from $100,000 to $500,000 and the potential for multi-million dollar verdicts, selecting the right claims management partner is more crucial than ever for trucking companies.

The distribution of claims processing capability is particularly notable, with firms located mainly in the U.S., India, and the Philippines. This global presence allows trucking companies access to both local expertise and more economical international options for their claims management strategies.

As the trucking industry evolves in 2025 and beyond, the role of specialized claims management companies is increasingly vital for mitigating the financial impacts of accidents and liabilities. Thus, selecting a claims partner is a pivotal decision for trucking companies and TPAs.
