has gone into receivership, casting uncertainty over 1,500 jobs.
Scott’s Refrigerated Logistics, which serves clients like Coles and Woolworths, entered voluntary administration yesterday and has appointed KordaMentha as receivers.
The firm provides mobile refrigeration and temperature-controlled warehousing services.
Deliveries to major supermarket chains will continue for now.
KordaMentha partner Scott Langdon mentioned on Today that they are seeking support from Scott’s customers to improve the chances of securing a new long-term owner for the company.
“We’ve made payments to subcontractors overnight,” he stated.
“Employees will be compensated in the next 24 hours as scheduled, and we are initiating an immediate sales campaign to preserve the 1,500 jobs and ensure the supply of essential goods,” he added.
Langdon noted that the challenges faced by Scott’s included rising fuel costs, severe weather events, COVID-19 disruptions, and a labor shortage.
The receivers plan to meet with key customers today to gain their backing for restructuring efforts that will safeguard the jobs of 1,500 workers and subcontractors.
Langdon also emphasized that the receivers have received numerous inquiries from potential buyers and aim to sell the business as a complete entity.
“Operations will proceed as normal, and we do not foresee any supply disruptions. However, we will engage with our customers to ensure a consistent supply, particularly since these are significant players in the food and beverage sector,” he remarked.
“We are relying on their support to maintain the stability of our supply chain for consumers. It is crucial for Scott’s to continue operating.”
