Engen Promotes Driver Health During Transport Month

This October, as Transport Month unfolds, Engen is launching free voluntary health screenings for truck drivers throughout South Africa, highlighting its commitment to the health, safety, and welfare of the nation’s transport workers.

Annual Engen Driver Wellness Campaign

The yearly Engen Driver Wellness initiative will provide complimentary health assessments at 29 Engen Truck Stops and select Engen 1-Stops across the country, maintaining the extensive reach achieved in the previous year.

Partnership with Trucking Wellness

Engen is once again collaborating with Trucking Wellness, a project of the National Bargaining Council for the Road Freight and Logistics Industry (NBCRFLI), to deliver professional health screenings and wellness support directly to drivers.

Recognizing Truck Drivers

“Truck drivers are the unsung heroes of our highways. Their long hours and demanding schedules necessitate initiatives like this for their well-being and overall road safety. With 90 percent of goods in South Africa transported by road, Engen is proud to contribute to the well-being of drivers and the economy,” states Adnaan Emeran, Engen’s commercial marketing and business development manager.

Impressive Health Screening Participation

Last year, during Transport Month, over 1,600 health screenings were conducted at Engen Truck Stops and selected Engen 1-Stops across eight provinces, which was an increase of more than 400 screenings from the year before.

Comprehensive Health Checks Offered

This year, truck drivers can again access a variety of health checks, including tests for blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, malaria, TB, STIs, HIV/Aids, and BMI (Body Mass Index). Each driver will also receive a free tote bag from Engen as a gesture of appreciation.

Ongoing Health Services Available

After Transport Month, truck drivers can continue to receive professional medical care at six established Trucking Wellness clinics located at key Engen Truck Stop sites in various provinces across South Africa.

Encouragement to Participate

Truck drivers are invited to visit the participating Engen Truck Stops and selected Engen 1-Stops during October’s Transport Month, and continue until mid-November, to take advantage of these complimentary health screenings.
