Dolly Parton Enhances Travel Experience in Tennessee
The queen of country music, Dolly Parton, is infusing her Southern charm into Tennessee’s highways with the launch of Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stops. These rest areas will feature innovative entertainment elements.
Parton stated in a press release, “I have spent the majority of my life on the road, especially on a bus.” She noted her experience visiting various eateries and stops has equipped her with insights on what travelers look for.
With her first hit single debuting in 1967, Parton boasts 11 Grammy Awards—including 10 for competitive categories and a Lifetime Achievement Award—as well as a spot in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
“Whether driving a truck, bus, or car, everyone wants a welcoming place that feels like home and refreshes them for the journey ahead,” she added, expressing her goal to fill a gap on the highways while embodying the spirit of Tennessee.
In collaboration with the Tennessean Travel Stop brand, Parton is revamping their main location in Cornersville, Tennessee, with plans for more sites to be announced next year. She aims to create appealing rest stops for diverse travelers, including families and long-haul truckers.
In 2019, Tennessee reported that drivers traveled over 227,000 miles daily on its roads. Parton aims for these new stops to provide jobs and serve communities that need support. Her manager, Danny Nozell, highlighted that this initiative reflects Parton’s dedication to her state and local businesses.
While renovations for “modern amenities, curated dining, and authentic regional retail” are in progress at the Cornersville location, it will remain operational during upgrades.
