While the headliners attract the crowd, South Of Salem stands out as a key highlight for many. This Bournemouth band has put in significant effort to reach their current standing. Their strong performances at events like Bloodstock and Steelhouse in 2024 showcased their relentless dedication.
South Of Salem
When given the chance, they unleash powerful sets, pulling from their albums, *Death Of The Party* and *Sinner Takes It All*. Their energetic stage presence, characterized by a five-member lineup, allows them to dominate every corner of the stage, engaging the audience with their enthusiastic performance.
Their showmanship harkens back to the glory days of the ’80s, blending the best elements of Hair Metal with the might of iron icons like Iron Maiden and Saxon. This blend resonates well, ensuring a captivating experience for everyone. As they deliver their track “Cold Day In Hell,” they challenge the headliners with a memorable rendition.
Black Lakes
Although not yet at the level of the top contenders, Black Lakes from South Wales are making strides with their second album, *Dead Gods*, garnering positive feedback and good local turnout. Their modern metal sound fits seamlessly within the festival’s lineup, and despite the upbeat atmosphere set by Trucker Diablo, Black Lakes rise to the occasion with their intensity and enjoyment.
Despite the intimidating stage, the band comfortably navigates it, having performed on comparable platforms like the Sophie stage at Bloodstock. Their shorter set might raise some eyebrows, especially for seasoned acts, but they prove their worth through a high-energy display, maintaining great rapport with the crowd.
Trucker Diablo
Trucker Diablo, a familiar face in the UK rock scene, may not tour as frequently these days, but their appeal remains strong. Their high-tempo hard rock is infectious, ensuring the crowd has a good time. Their performance, packed with well-known tracks like “Kill The Lights” and “Drink Beer, Destroy,” gets everyone into the groove.
A thirty-minute set from Trucker Diablo always feels too short, often leaving the audience wanting more. Following this festival, fans looking to catch more of their music are in luck, as they are scheduled for a headline show at The Patriot the next night. For now, the audience relishes the electrifying energy they bring to Chepstow Castle.
