Tow Truck Driver in Canada Rescues Stranded Moose
A tow truck driver from Saskatchewan, Canada, is gaining attention online for his heroic act of rescuing a moose trapped in ice during a routine service call.
Clint Gottinger, the owner of Rebel Towing, discovered the moose near a junction not far from his home, realizing that he would need to prioritize the animal’s rescue over his waiting customers.
Gottinger expressed, “I thought, ‘Everyone will have to wait. I must help this guy. I can’t watch him suffer. We need to get him out,'” in an interview with AccuWeather National Reporter Ali Reid.

The moose, later named Rebel, was found stuck in a frozen waterway, looking fatigued and hopeless. Utilizing his flatbed truck, a sling, and assistance from neighbors, Gottinger worked to free the animal.
“He was so tired and exhausted. He just sat there waiting patiently,” Gottinger reported.

After rescuing the moose, Gottinger reached out to his wife for additional help, saying, “Honey, bring out some blankets. I’ve got a moose on my truck.”
The animal spent several days recovering before vanishing by Monday morning. During that time, Gottinger noted that Rebel had become calm enough to enjoy some gentle affection.
“He allowed me to scratch his chin and rub his nose and ears. He appreciated that and would turn his head,” Gottinger shared.
Interestingly, even the motorists waiting for their tow trucks were unfazed by the delay in service. “Hopefully, he comes back because he still has a tow bill!” one commented.
