Parkhurst’s 75th Anniversary Celebration
In 2021, Parkhurst marks its 75 years in the business. Established in 1946, Parkhurst has been a key player in the truck equipment sector. Today, it distributes truck bodies throughout the United States via a network of dealers and distributors catering to various industries.
The Foundation of Parkhurst
The origins of Parkhurst trace back to when William R. Parkhurst returned from his service in the U.S. Navy. He constructed a two-wheeled utility trailer in a borrowed garage, which led to the establishment of the company. Shortly after its inception, the company moved to a new 4,000-square-foot facility, where it began manufacturing the Parkhurst Farm Truck Body and trailers intended for the rental market.
Diversity in Response to Economic Challenges
After the 1974 recession, Parkhurst’s leadership recognized the need to diversify. To adapt, the company expanded its production to include military combat trailers for the U.S. Army, as well as baggage carts for TWA Airlines. In the years following this strategic pivot, Parkhurst consistently supplied truck and trailer equipment across the nation.
A New Era of Ownership
In 2017, the Parkhurst family sold the company to the new generation of Parkhurst Manufacturing. Longtime employees, Sam Trelow and Toby Pierce, along with Sam’s son, James, took over the reins. The founding principles established decades ago continue to guide the company’s current trajectory.
Building on Tradition for the Future
Empowered by a legacy of proud American manufacturing, Parkhurst’s new leadership is dedicated to innovation and the development of cutting-edge products. As they celebrate 75 years of achievements, the next generation of Parkhurst Manufacturing is focused on the future and the opportunities that lie ahead.
Conclusion
With a solid foundation and a commitment to excellence, Parkhurst Manufacturing is poised for continued success as it embraces the challenges and prospects of the future.
