Joseph Morning Honored as Schneider’s Ride of Pride Driver
GREEN BAY, Wis. — Schneider announced on June 1 that Joseph Morning, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and member of the California National Guard, has been recognized as this year’s Ride of Pride driver.
The Ride of Pride program by Schneider showcases uniquely designed Freightliner trucks that celebrate the nation’s military. Since its inception in 2001, Freightliner has gifted a total of 14 U.S. Ride of Pride trucks to Schneider, the highest number awarded to any carrier.
Morning received his truck, which commemorates the 75th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force, on May 27 and promptly began traveling across the country with it.
“Seeing the truck come down the line in front of many fellow veterans was one of the most profound experiences of my life,” stated Morning. “It felt surreal, and I had a whirlwind of emotions.”
During the upcoming year, Morning and the Ride of Pride truck will be seen on the road and at the annual Wreaths Across America event in Washington, D.C.
“I am eager to connect with other veterans at Schneider and nationwide,” Morning remarked. “Most importantly, I will participate in Wreaths Across America. Honoring my first Sergeant Major at Arlington by delivering wreaths there would be one of the highest honors I could receive.”
Schneider has gained recognition as a leading military-friendly employer in the trucking sector, with nearly 14% of its workforce comprising individuals with military backgrounds. “Driving a truck shares similarities with military service,” Morning explained. “You must be self-reliant and aware of your surroundings, which makes my transition to truck driving seamless.”
