Introduction
BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. — The Minnesota Trucking Association (MTA) has named Gary Klingson, a driver for Koch Trucking, as the 2025 Minnesota Driver of the Year.
Acknowledgment from MTA
“This award serves as a wonderful recognition of the top professionals in our field,” stated John Hausladen, president of the MTA. “Safe driving is a significant challenge, especially considering everyday issues like traffic congestion, distractions, and harsh Minnesota winters. Gary’s impressive record of over 6 million safe driving miles in a career spanning 40 years is extraordinary, and we are delighted to honor him for this achievement.”
Selection Process
In 2025, exceptional drivers were nominated by their respective companies, with one driver selected as Driver of the Month each month. Candidates are required to meet rigorous standards, including a remarkable driving record, contributions to safety in the industry, and community involvement. From the twelve monthly nominees, a panel of judges—including Matthew Marrin from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Laura Roads from MnDOT, and Captain Robert Zak of the Minnesota State Patrol—selects the Driver of the Year.
Gary’s Commitment
“For four decades, Gary has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic and dedication to excellence,” remarked Rick Lueck, senior director of flatbed and oversized at Koch. “His recent achievement of 6 million safe driving miles is a testament to his unwavering commitment to safety throughout his career, embodying the very best in our industry.”
Conclusion
This recognition not only highlights Klingson’s outstanding achievements but also serves to inspire others in the trucking industry to prioritize safety and professionalism in their work.
