Jeremy and Tammy Carr are an over-the-road (OTR) driving team with over 40 years of combined experience. They prioritize safety, believing that good health is essential for maintaining safety on the road.
Since they began driving together in 2013, they’ve developed a stable lifestyle while prioritizing sustainable practices rather than overexerting themselves.
For Tammy and Jeremy, maintaining good health while on the road is not just a choice; it’s vital for their performance. Their schedules often fluctuate, and they face various challenges with sleep, load variations, and demands, so they focus on sustaining energy, mental clarity, and a positive attitude for safe and professional work.
The couple drives hundreds of miles each day, navigating traffic, weather, and logistical communication, all while keeping safety as their foremost concern. Staying physically and mentally fit is crucial for their alertness and positivity while driving.
Dietary Choices
Tammy describes their eating habits as thoughtful and straightforward—they eat when hungry and avoid snacking out of boredom. They keep quick snacks like jerky and sardines handy and usually opt for one substantial meal daily when their appetite calls for it.
Their diet primarily features animal-based foods rich in fats, such as meat, butter, and avocado, which help keep them satisfied for longer periods and provide the necessary energy for extensive driving days.
The Carrs also include fermented vegetables in their meals to support gut health, which they believe is closely linked to mood and overall well-being.
Exercise Regimen
The Carrs approach their workouts in a realistic and efficient manner suited to their lifestyle as truck drivers.
They typically engage in two workouts each week, alternating between upper and lower body sessions, and may add a third if time allows.
Their primary workout tool is the X3 resistance bar system, enabling them to complete intense, full-body resistance training in about ten minutes, focusing on exercises like squats and deadlifts.
Tammy also utilizes BionicGym, an electronic muscle stimulation device, several times a week, targeting her legs without stressing her joints after long hours behind the wheel.
Once a week, they visit an infrared sauna gym, where they can work out, sweat, and freshen up.
Their aim is not to build muscle bulk, but to maintain strength, improve bone health, and ensure resilience, avoiding the pitfalls of constant recovery.
They stay active daily by walking their dog and incorporating lunges, single-leg squats, and quick sprints whenever feasible.
This balanced approach has served the Carrs well. They report feeling good, staying focused, and maintaining consistent energy levels—all crucial factors for success on the road. Their focus is on longevity, safety, and readiness to perform their job effectively.
Note: Consult your doctor before starting any new diet or exercise regimen.
