Knapheide Opens Retail Facility in Charleston Area
MONCKS CORNER— On April 23, Knapheide Truck Equipment Company held an event to welcome new customers to its Charleston-area facility. The celebration included a catered lunch, promotional bags, and a setup similar to a convention, featuring suppliers and partner vendors. Attendees were also given an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the technology and equipment used to prepare work trucks for various industries.
Location and Services
The Knapheide Truck Equipment Center, located at 2510 U.S. 52, has traditionally focused on supplying and installing equipment for commercial vehicles. They have worked closely with brands like Mercedes-Benz, particularly retrofitting numerous trucks for the U.S. Postal Service.
New Offerings for Individual Customers
Now, the company is expanding its services to cater to individual customers, including walk-ins. “If you have a work truck—whether for personal use or company business—we can be your partner,” stated General Manager Alan Watson.
Custom Solutions
Watson emphasized that Knapheide can provide custom designs tailored to customer preferences, asking if customers prefer Ford, Chevrolet, Chrysler, or Ram. They can coordinate with dealership partners to create a complete package, simplifying the purchase process.

The engineering team at Knapheide prides itself on the ability to create a wide range of custom solutions. “We can build just about anything,” Watson noted, indicating the company’s versatility in meeting customer needs.
