Trucking Industry Faces Driver Shortage in 2012 and 2013
The trucking sector is projected to experience a significant driver shortage through 2012 and 2013, with industry estimates indicating a need for approximately 135,000 additional drivers. Despite high unemployment, motor carriers anticipate an increase in job openings as freight transportation demand rises.
Upcoming Job Fair in Denver
To address this growing need, Denver will host a premier trucking job fair accompanied by a free barbecue on Tuesday, June 26. Fourteen leading trucking firms, including Werner, Pride, May, Swift, and Knight, will be present to provide insights to those interested in pursuing a career in trucking. These companies are hiring immediately.
Event Details
The job fair is set to take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the SAGE Truck Driving School in Henderson. Bonnie Babcock, the school’s director, states, “If you are currently unemployed, looking to increase your earnings, or seeking a fresh career path, this job fair could be your solution.” Both experienced drivers with a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and individuals seeking CDL training are welcome.
