Trucker’s Body Shop Launches Digital Health Platform
Trucker’s Body Shop has introduced a new digital health initiative aimed at meeting the unique health requirements of American truck drivers.
This telehealth platform is specifically designed for truckers, who often work mobile and hectic schedules, and it also extends its services to the drivers’ friends and family.
Targeting individuals on the move, the platform provides support for weight management, medication access, and overall wellness.
The telehealth service allows users to connect with healthcare professionals, receive nutrition and fitness advice, get prescriptions delivered, and access medications for various needs, including smoking cessation, sexual health, hair loss, and weight loss.
Medication prices vary depending on dosage and treatment duration. Memberships that include weight loss services start at $79 per month, while a long-term program using semaglutide for weight loss is priced at $175 per month.
The semaglutide program offers physician support and discounts on additional therapies like smoking cessation treatments and sexual health support.
Garrett Steenblik, the founder and CEO of Trucker’s Body Shop, expressed the commitment to improving the health of truckers: “Truckers work long hours and travel extensively, often without access to healthy food options, leading to increased stress and obesity. Our goal is to provide accessible medical resources that fit their busy lifestyles, helping them balance their family and professional lives.”
Broader Context
In 2022, the trucking industry transported 11.46 billion tons of freight and employed around 8.4 million people in related jobs.
The CDC reports that long-haul truck drivers face higher rates of hypertension, heart disease, obesity, and diabetes compared to other U.S. adult workers. Their challenging work conditions, including long hours and irregular schedules, hinder their ability to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Another organization, the St. Christopher Fund, also supports drivers with health and wellness programs, offering assistance in areas like diabetes prevention, tobacco cessation, cancer screenings, vaccine vouchers, and chronic disease management.
