CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A new online platform has been launched by the City of Charlotte aimed at helping truck drivers find legal parking options throughout the city.
City officials state that the Commercial Truck Parking Tool is intended to offer truck drivers easy and trustworthy access to safe and authorized parking locations.
Increased Penalties for Illegal Parking
This tool, which can be accessed through both an app and a desktop version, includes several essential features designed to benefit the trucking community:
Searchable Parking Locations: Drivers can quickly locate available, legal, and secure parking lots by entering an address or utilizing their current location.
Parking Lot Availability Survey: Owners of parking lots can provide their details to be featured in the tool, including information about costs and amenities like gates, showers, and security services.
Truck Parking Regulations: The tool outlines local truck parking rules in Charlotte, including the fines and penalties for violations.
Interactive Heat Map: This feature displays a real-time map indicating areas of commercial truck parking violations across Charlotte, guiding drivers to avoid heavily enforced regions and find authorized parking spots. It also keeps residents informed about commercial vehicle activity in their neighborhoods.
This initiative is the most recent resource provided by the City of Charlotte’s Quality of Life team, which focuses on key community issues like illegal parking. Additionally, the N.C. Department of Transportation has implemented signage in various exit locations off Interstate 85 prohibiting truck parking.
