Houston – Truck drivers in northwest Houston are voicing their concerns following a series of alleged thefts of valuable equipment from their trucks.
“Earn Money the Honest Way”
What they’re saying:
Surveillance videos depict an individual entering a truck and taking a computer module, a crime that is becoming increasingly frequent in the region.
Awais Ali shared with FOX 26 that he has fallen victim to this situation four times in the past year.
“Engage in honest work to earn money the right way,” Ali stated. “In our culture, we refer to it as ‘Halal money.’ This is far from Halal, man.”
Ali’s footage shows the moment a thief enters his truck and steals a Common Powertrain Controller (CPC) from the dashboard.

The Theft Documented
What we know:
The event occurred on Sunday, March 9, around 4:30 PM in a secured parking lot on Satsuma Drive near Emmett Road.
Another video captures the same suspect climbing back over a fence, entering a black sedan, and driving away. The CPC is vital for truck functionality; without it, the truck becomes inoperable, and repair costs can reach up to thousands of dollars.
“The market conditions are poor, rates are low, and diesel prices are soaring,” Ali commented. “We’re enduring a tough time, it’s challenging for truck drivers.”

“Time and Money Loss”
The broader impact:
Satnam Singh, another truck driver who has faced similar thefts, discussed the significant toll of the damage.
“If you file an insurance claim, your deductible is $1,000. If you pay out-of-pocket, you’re still looking at $2,000 to $3,000,” Singh noted. “It’s time lost from the road. We’re losing both time and money.”
Harminder Singh explained to FOX 26 that after his CPC was stolen, he managed to locate it on Facebook Marketplace and repurchased it from a man who looked like his suspected thief.
“I got it back for $250. I asked him, ‘Were you the one who stole it?’ He denied it, saying, ’Why would I reach out to you if I did it?’ I warned him that if we see any trespassing near our properties, we’ll have to take action,” H. Singh remarked.
Ongoing Investigation

Currently, no arrests have been made, and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the thefts.
