Weather Disrupts NASCAR Events at Grandview Speedway
The beautiful sunny weather with temperatures in the low 80s took a turn as a cold front and rain showers arrived mid-evening, bringing an early conclusion to the scheduled NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series races on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway.
Just as the second qualifying heat race for the T.P. Trailer Modifieds concluded, the first round of rain hit the Speedway, interrupting the event. After the initial downpour, track crews attempted to fix the racing surface but were met with further rain, ultimately ending the night after six qualifying races were completed.
Track management has announced that the event will pick up next Saturday night, May 24, starting with heats three and four for the T.P. Trailer Modifieds, followed by two consolation races for both the Modifieds and T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman. The night’s features will include a 30-lap race for the Modifieds and a 25-lap race for the Sportsman, along with the scheduled Outlaw Racing Series Vintage cars.
All tickets and pit wristbands from the May 17 event will be valid for the May 24 continuation or for the show on May 31. Attendees must exchange their tickets or wristbands at the ticket booths next week to receive new ones for the May 24 event.
For new fans who couldn’t attend the May 17 event, adult grandstand tickets are priced at $15, students aged 10-15 with ID will pay $5, and children 9 and under can enter for free. Pit admission is set at $35 with a license or $45 without.
Drivers who were absent from the May 17 event are welcome to join either division, starting from the back of the consolation races. In the two completed heats for the T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman, winners included Ebby Ridge, Tom Miller Jr., Parker Guldin, and Brad Brightbill, with 20 drivers already qualified for next week’s feature.
The two heat races for the T.P. Trailer Modifieds were won by Logan Watt and Nick DeSantis, setting the stage for heats three and four next Saturday. The pit gates will open at 4 PM, grandstand gates at 5:30 PM, warm-ups at 6:15 PM, and the first race will begin at 7:30 PM.
