Major Recruitment Event for Truck Driver Trainees in Denver
Some of the largest trucking companies in the country will gather in Denver to pre-hire new Driver Trainees at the United States Truck Driving School on Wednesday, November 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event is expected to be one of the biggest recruitment drives in the Denver area for 2013.
Thriving Industry with Competitive Salaries
The trucking industry is experiencing significant growth, with drivers earning between $45,000 and $70,000 annually. In contrast to many other professions, trucking offers attractive benefit packages that include health, dental, vision, 401K plans, and retirement options.
Increasing Demand for Professional Drivers
Bob Costello, the chief economist for the American Trucking Association, emphasized the favorable conditions for the trucking sector, stating, “This is the perfect storm for the trucking industry. As freight demand rises, an increasing number of older drivers are retiring, leading to one of the highest demands for professional truck drivers in the past 25 years.”
Hiring Opportunities for New Trainees
Companies such as JBS Carriers, Swift Transportation, Werner Enterprises, Schneider National, and May Trucking, among others, will be conducting pre-hiring for new driver trainees. No previous driving experience is required, and candidates can be trained and prepared to start within just three weeks. Many trucking firms are also willing to assist with covering the costs of CDL training.
Diverse Participants Entering the Field
Frank Trujillo, the campus director, noted, “Currently, we see individuals of all ages and backgrounds joining the trucking industry. Due to the attractive pay and benefits, as well as the possibility for drivers to be home on weekends and evenings, many are switching from their current jobs to pursue a career in driving. In the Denver area, job opportunities that offer $50K and benefits are limited, but trucking provides that.”
