Fleet Equipment recently attended Work Truck Week 2025 in Indianapolis, showcasing Isuzu’s medium-duty trucks. Isuzu Commercial Truck of America presented over a dozen trucks, emphasizing two primary themes: capability and versatility.
Showcasing Medium-Duty Versatility
The Isuzu medium-duty trucks demonstrated the company’s capacity to cater to diverse fleet requirements. Brian Tabel, Isuzu’s Assistant Vice President of Marketing, elaborated on one of the featured configurations:
“This is our FVR and it’s the FVR de-rate. The FVRs are generally rated for 33,000 pounds, but we’ve adjusted it to 25,950.”
Additionally, Isuzu displayed a Class 6 FTR hauler equipped with a Cummins B6.7 diesel engine and an Allison transmission. A Red Bull-branded NRR EV highlighted Isuzu’s commitment to electric vehicles.
“We commenced production of EVs last year, and this particular truck was reserved to showcase at this year’s event,” Tabel mentioned.
Emerging Sustainable Solutions
The NRR EV is set to head to California, and Tabel pointed out notable interest from customers wishing to minimize their environmental footprint.
“There’s been substantial interest. Many customers are eager to achieve their carbon neutrality targets,” he remarked.
While electric vehicles were part of the lineup, the highlight of the booth was the Ultimate Craft Beer Truck. In collaboration with Sun King Brewing from Indianapolis, Isuzu unveiled a specially designed upfit for serving cold beverages on the go.
“Since we can’t serve beer at the Work Truck Show, we’re showcasing Nitro coffee for now, but soon one of these trucks will be serving beer,” Tabel added.
Diverse Powertrain and Body Configurations
The booth also showcased the diesel-powered NRR, which features a refreshed cab shared across the series.
“Last year, we updated the cab both inside and out, incorporating numerous safety enhancements—ADAS is standard on the EV and available for the diesel as an option,” stated Tabel.
With options in Class 3-6 and various powertrains including diesel, gas, and electric, Tabel noted that the N-Series platform can be customized for a wide range of applications.
“Whatever upfit you desire—from a craft beer truck to a fuel truck—there’s a solution available. We have glass trucks, stake beds, van bodies—anything you can envision can be constructed,” he explained.
