The manufacturer also introduced enhancements for remote programming applicable to the latest Volvo VNL and Volvo VNR models, in addition to existing products. By proactively sending software updates to fleets that opt-in, Volvo aims to simplify over-the-air updates and ensure a smooth implementation across their trucks. This remote programming feature enables ongoing enhancements in truck efficiency and performance.
Advantages of Proactive Updates
Fleets that choose proactive updates will eliminate the need to manually search for software updates, resulting in an average reduction of unplanned stops by 24% when compared to fleets that do not receive updates.
With Volvo Connect, customers now have the ability to directly adjust vehicle parameter settings, fostering a more efficient fleet management process. Users can modify settings such as maximum road speed, pedal limits, cruise maximum, and various idle shutdown configurations. These adjustments can be applied to individual trucks or the entire fleet, along with modification alert functionalities.

Software updates delivered over-the-air can take place while trucks are loaded or during driver breaks, minimizing interruptions to operations. Volvo Connect provides AI-driven insights and support through Volvo Trucks’ 24/7 Uptime Center, offering a balance between service assistance and self-service options to maintain fleet efficiency.

Introduced in October 2023, Volvo Connect brings together features focused on vehicle safety, fuel efficiency, diagnostics, and remote programming capabilities. Updates are made accessible through the 4G Telematics Gateway and are compatible with both new and supported legacy Volvo models.
