The Portsmouth Fire Department is holding an online auction for a 1989 Maxim Pumper fire truck through municibid.com. The auction is open to everyone and will conclude on January 27. Residents of Rhode Island have the opportunity to bid at any time during the auction period.

This classic fire truck has a mileage of 80,883 miles and is equipped with a Detroit diesel engine, automatic transmission, and a robust 1500 GPM pump. It received an upgrade in 2005, and it is reported to be in good working condition, both in terms of driving and braking. Additionally, it features a Westerbeke diesel generator, which provides power for hydraulic rescue equipment such as cutters and spreaders.

All proceeds from this auction will directly benefit the Portsmouth Fire Department, with plans to purchase essential supplies such as water hoses and helmets, along with possibly investing in new vehicles in the future.

Currently, the highest bid stands at $2,500, but it has yet to meet the reserve price. To ensure fairness, the auction may receive a two-minute extension to deter last-minute bids.

If you’re interested in participating, you can create a free account on Municibid to get involved in the auction.
