Trucking Cares Foundation Donates to Next Generation in Trucking Foundation
Washington—The Trucking Cares Foundation, which serves as the charitable branch of the trucking industry, has contributed $40,000 to the Next Generation in Trucking Foundation. This nonprofit is focused on engaging and training future professionals in the trucking sector.
Funding TruckFit for CDL Training
The donation from the Trucking Cares Foundation will support the development of the TruckFit program, which will be integrated into the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training curricula offered to high schools, community and technical colleges, as well as private schools across North America. This program aims to educate new drivers on how to prioritize their physical and mental well-being while on the road.
Supporting Opportunities in Trucking
Phil Byrd, chairman of the Trucking Cares Foundation, remarked, “The Next Generation in Trucking Foundation provides individuals with skills that pave the way for economic independence in the trucking industry. With this donation, we aim to support this admirable mission and encourage healthy, active lifestyles, ensuring that new drivers can enjoy long-lasting careers.”
Implementing TruckFit in Schools
Dave Dein, CDL coordinator and co-founder of the Next Generation in Trucking Association, expressed enthusiasm for incorporating the TruckFit curriculum into schools. He emphasized that long-term driver health is integral to their educational model, stating, “The TruckFit program equips students with practical knowledge to prioritize their well-being, crucial for entering the workforce with a solid foundation.”
Prioritizing Driver Health
Lindsey Trent, president and co-founder of the Next Generation in Trucking Association, highlighted the importance of driver health in training the new generation of commercial drivers. “Thanks to our partnership with the Trucking Cares Foundation, we can now provide tangible strategies for student drivers to maintain their health on the road even before their careers begin,” she said.
Complementary Role of Next Generation in Trucking Foundation
The Next Generation in Trucking Foundation complements the efforts of the Next Generation in Trucking Association, a nonprofit trade organization dedicated to promoting trucking as a viable career path. The foundation partners with secondary and postsecondary career technical education (CTE) programs and offers support to underserved communities through scholarships, curriculum development, and educational resources.
Core Focus of the Trucking Cares Foundation
The Trucking Cares Foundation addresses several key areas within the trucking industry, including humanitarian aid and disaster relief, combating human trafficking, leadership development, and enhancing relationships with law enforcement and military organizations. It also aims to provide safety and research opportunities for better industry practices.
