Podcast Recognition
A local truck driver and musician’s podcast has received a nomination for the Jesse H. Neal Award for “Best Podcast” this year, according to a recent announcement.
About “Over The Road”
“Over The Road,” created in partnership with Overdrive Magazine and PRX/Radiotopia, is hosted by seasoned truck driver Paul Marhoefer from Losantville, who is also known as “Long Haul Paul.” This eight-part series highlights the challenges and victories faced by long-haul truckers across America, featuring personal essays, in-depth interviews with truckers nationwide, and original compositions by Marhoefer.
Album Release Celebration
An album release event is set for 8 p.m. on October 23 at the historic Key Palace Theatre in Redkey. During the event, Marhoefer will present some of the stories and songs inspired by “Over the Road,” alongside a meet-and-greet. Notable guests include cellist Michael Ronstadt (nephew of Linda), renowned Hoosier poet Michael Brockley, and Muncie’s own Ric Dwenger. For more information, visit keypalacetheatre.com.
Scholarship Awarded
The Muncie Central Alumni Association has awarded its annual $2,000 scholarship to Addie Davis, a 2021 Muncie Central High School graduate now attending Indiana Wesleyan University. In her scholarship application, Davis expressed gratitude for the opportunities Muncie Central provided, which she believes have been instrumental in her academic success.
Davis’s Contributions
While at Muncie Central, Davis participated in winter color guard and summer marching band, where her team achieved first place at the 2021 Indiana State Fair competition. She was involved in the National Honor Society, Delaware County Youth Salute, and served as a mentor for freshmen, while also working on the school yearbook staff and participating in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
New Appointment
First Merchants Corporation has appointed Chad Kimball as the new senior vice president and chief risk officer, overseeing the bank’s enterprise risk management initiatives that align with its strategic goals. Kimball brings over 20 years of risk management expertise, most recently serving as senior vice president of risk at Huntington Bank. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minor in computer science from the University of Rio Grande and is both a Certified Information System Auditor and a Certified Internal Auditor.
