Incident on Interstate 83 Leads to Arrest in Baltimore County
HUNT VALLEY, BALTIMORE COUNTY — Maryland State Police have apprehended an individual from Illinois in relation to a shooting incident on Interstate 83 within Baltimore County.
Authorities suspect that Christian Ramos, hailing from Aurora, Illinois, is connected to three other shooting incidents along I-83 in Pennsylvania.
Ramos is facing three counts of attempted first-degree murder and various associated charges. Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed Ramos or the events surrounding the incidents to step forward.
Shooting Details
Just before midnight on June 18th, a driver reported to 911 that his Toyota Prius had been shot at while traveling southbound on I-83. Three passengers were in the vehicle, including a 2-year-old child. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but investigators found a bullet hole in the passenger window and a projectile lodged in the front seat.
Investigation Progress
The Maryland State Police Highway Gun Crimes Initiative identified Ramos as a suspect after examining dashcam footage and conducting interviews. At the time of the shooting, it is believed he was operating a Tag Trans Inc. tractor-trailer.
Apprehension of Suspect
Authorities located the tractor-trailer the following day, June 19th, at the TA Travel Center in Elkton, where Ramos was taken into custody without incident. A search of his vehicle revealed a loaded .45-caliber handgun, several hundred rounds of ammunition, and numerous spent shell casings.
Additional Investigations
Pennsylvania State Police are also looking into three other shooting incidents that occurred on the same night along I-83 in Pennsylvania between 10:00 p.m. and midnight.
