Incident in Brooklyn
On September 6, a man in Brooklyn, New York, took drastic action to stop his Chevrolet Silverado from being towed. He confronted the tow truck driver with loud shouts before allegedly stealing the tow truck itself. However, as captured by bystanders and the tow truck’s camera, it wasn’t a straightforward escape; the would-be thief crashed the Silverado into several parked cars before losing control and letting the truck roll into the street.
Video Evidence
Footage shared on TikTok by repodaddy82caddy begins with the tow truck successfully lifting the Silverado while the operator secures it. Suddenly, the apparent owner of the Chevy emerges, angrily telling the operator to “Put that f–king truck down” among other expletives.
Struggle for Control
According to footage compiled on Streamable, the two men engage in a struggle to access the cab of the tow truck. The Chevy owner eventually manages to get inside the tow truck, proclaiming, “Nobody is taking this truck from me!” as he drives off.
Chaos Ensues
As chaos unfolds, the Silverado’s door remains open, clipping a nearby Toyota RAV4. The truck is not securely attached, causing it to sway and crash into multiple parked vehicles along the street.
Further Escalation
Things worsen when the man makes a right turn, causing the Silverado to tumble off the tow truck and collide with parked cars before landing right-side up in front of a city bus. After losing his truck, he drives the tow truck for a few more blocks before abandoning it and fleeing the scene, as reported by police to the New York Post.
Police Investigation
According to a report from News 12 The Bronx, authorities are still searching for the suspect behind this chaotic event. If apprehended, considering the Silverado was left at the scene, he likely faces serious repercussions beyond just paying to retrieve his truck from impound.
