Meet the Waldens: A Journey Through Trucking
David and Dana Walden, trucking professionals from Georgia, boast nearly 70 years of combined experience in the industry. Their extensive journey has granted them invaluable life lessons and countless stories to share.
A Memorable Phone Call
One story stands out among the rest, revolving around a simple cellphone issue. David recalls facing problems with his old Suncom phone and venting to a friend. This friend recommended contacting a couple with electronic expertise, unknowingly leading David to Dana, who would eventually change his life.
A Fortuitous Encounter
Initially just a helpful acquaintance, Dana’s relationship with David evolved when she invited him to join her on a trucking trip. This spontaneous decision would set the course for their two-decade partnership.
Family Legacy and Personal Growth
David’s keen interest in trucking originated from his father, who drove for three decades. Despite his father’s passing, David carries on the family’s legacy. On the other hand, Dana’s entry into the field was through her military service in the U.S. Army, which spurred her down a successful trucking path.
Entrepreneurial Ventures
In 2001, David established Walden Transport, overcoming numerous challenges to grow the business. While he once questioned this path, he later found solace in becoming an owner-operator, appreciating the independence it afforded him.
The Joy of the Road
Both David and Dana value the freedom that comes with their trucking careers. David’s favorite truck, a 2019 International LoneStar, stands as a testament to the importance of enjoying one’s workspace. Their experiences have further solidified their passion for trucking, especially during the intense demands of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Independence in Partnership
Though the Waldens don’t operate as a team, they emphasize the importance of sharing their journeys together. They navigate their paths individually but remain united in their passion for driving, showcasing how love and trucking go hand in hand.
