A Hamilton couple faces legal repercussions after a string of overnight thefts, which started with a stolen food truck and culminated in an attempted theft of heavy machinery.

Theft of Food Truck
On Saturday morning, June 21, 2025, the Stratford Police Service was notified by the owner of Annie’s Seafood Restaurant regarding the theft of their food truck, which had been taken overnight. Before police intervention, the truck was discovered on Road 111 in Stratford, with numerous items, including food, missing.
Surveillance Evidence
Video footage from Annie’s Seafood and nearby establishments showed that an unidentified male and female stole the truck shortly after 3:30 a.m. They were seen driving a blue Ford pickup truck with the license plate AP91334 during the incident.
Attempted Heavy Equipment Theft
On Sunday, June 22, 2025, just before 5:30 a.m., the Stratford Police Service responded to a report of a theft in progress at a business on Griffith Road. The business owner had received a motion alert from the surveillance system.
Police Intervention
Upon arrival, officers discovered a male and female trying to steal a skid steer while operating the same blue Ford pickup truck. The truck was also towing a trailer that was later found to be stolen.
Arrest Details
The officers on the scene successfully cornered the pickup truck, preventing the male driver from escaping. During the arrest, the driver resisted and assaulted an officer, necessitating physical removal from the vehicle, as he repeatedly pressed on the accelerator, colliding with police cruisers blocking his path.
Identities and Charges
The driver was quickly subdued and the vehicle turned off. The female passenger surrendered without incident. Joshua Davies, 49, and Kimberly Ruttan, 54, both from Hamilton, were arrested and taken to Stratford Police Headquarters for a bail hearing.
Legal Consequences
Davies and Ruttan face multiple charges, including Theft Over $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and Possession of Break-In Instruments. Additionally, Davies is charged with Resist Arrest, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police, Operation of a Conveyance while Prohibited (x4), Breach of Probation (x2), and Assault of a Peace Officer.
