Steven Sill Becomes 47th NTEA President
INDIANAPOLIS – Steven Sill, the president of Aspen Equipment Company based in Bloomington, Minnesota, was inaugurated as the 47th President of the NTEA, the Association for the Work Truck Industry. The ceremony took place during The Work Truck Show 2011 in Indianapolis, where Sill received the gavel from his predecessor, Allen Birmingham, national sales manager at Tommy Gate Co. in Phoenix, Arizona, during the President’s Breakfast & NTEA Annual Meeting. This annual meeting coincides with The Work Truck Show, recognized as North America’s largest event dedicated to work trucks.
Early Career
Steve began his professional journey as the first third-generation member of his family to work at Road Machinery & Supplies while still in high school. He later attended Montana State University in Bozeman and the University of Minnesota Duluth, subsequently relocating to Vail, Colorado.
Professional Development
Eventually, Steve went back to Duluth to complete his education and then moved to Minneapolis to advance his career. In 1986, he joined RMS Truck Equipment Division’s Bloomington office as a rental coordinator. His initial role paved the way for various positions, including used equipment manager, territory manager, general sales manager, and finally, vice president and general manager.
Founding Aspen Equipment
In 1993, a strategic plan was initiated to separate the assets that would become Aspen Equipment from those of RMS. This objective was achieved on July 1, 1994, with Steve at the helm as president. Aspen Equipment is now headquartered in Minneapolis, with branches in Des Moines, Iowa, and Omaha, Nebraska.
