Rain Cancels Grandview Speedway Races Again
For the third week in a row, rain has affected the schedule at Grandview Speedway. With rain falling all morning and forecasts predicting more wet weather until late in the day, the racing program planned for Saturday, June 14, had to be canceled.
The event was set to highlight the T.P. Trailer Modifieds and T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman during the eleventh race meet of the season, marking the eighth cancellation due to rain—an unprecedented start to the season in the history of Grandview Speedway.
Looking ahead, Grandview Speedway plans to host another NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series event next Saturday, featuring both the T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modifieds and the T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman categories. In order to compensate for the cancellations, track management has already held a Twin 25-lap feature for the Modifieds and will feature a double-header for the Sportsman with Twin 20-lap events on June 21.
The June 21 race meet will comprise qualifying heats for both divisions, followed by the Twin 20-lap features for the Sportsman, and a 30-lap feature for the Modifieds. Fans holding rain checks or pit wristbands from May 17 can redeem them at the June 21 event; however, they will need to pay an additional fee (an extra $3 for adults, $2 for students, with pit fees remaining unchanged). This will be the final opportunity to use May 17 rain checks.
On race day, pit gates will open at 4 PM, grandstands at 5:30 PM, warm-ups at 6:15 PM, and racing will commence at 7:30 PM. Admission for adults in the grandstand is $23, while students aged 10-15 with ID pay $12, and children under 9 enter free. Pit admission costs $35 for NASCAR members and $45 for non-members.
The next event in the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series will kick off on Tuesday, June 17, featuring the Jesse Hockett Classic, part of the USAC National Sprint Car Series Eastern Storm. This event will include time trials and heats leading up to a lucrative 40-lap feature with a $6,000 prize, alongside a NASCAR point event for the 358 Modifieds, which includes a 30-lap feature paying $3,000 to win.
For those wanting to purchase advance tickets for the June 17 event, they can call 443-513-4456 to reserve their spots. Tickets can be collected at Will Call starting at 4:15 PM, with general admission tickets available from 5 PM. Adult tickets are priced at $35, while tickets for children aged 6-11 are $10, with children 5 and under admitted for free. Pit admission costs $45, and no license is needed.
