Philippi-Hagenbuch Inc Expands Custom Solutions with Zero-Emission Steel

Philippi-Hagenbuch Inc, a prominent name in off-highway truck customization, is broadening its range of steel options by introducing zero-emission SSAB Zero™ steel for its haul truck equipment.

Wide Range of Applications

SSAB Zero is now available for all of Philippi-Hagenbuch’s custom products, which include HiVol® truck bodies, Rear Eject bodies, HiVol Water Tanks, and the full lineup of off-highway trailers. This eco-friendly steel alternative enables producers and fleet managers to meet their environmental objectives with equipment designed to enhance operational efficiency.

Commitment to Innovation

“Philippi-Hagenbuch has always been a leader in the industry regarding the materials we choose and our product designs,” stated Josh Swank, Chief Growth Officer at Philippi-Hagenbuch. “The introduction of zero-emission steel aligns with our long-standing commitment over the past 55 years to provide customers with high-quality, fully customized equipment that maintains the toughness they expect while helping to reduce their environmental footprint.”

Support for Circular Economy

SSAB Zero is composed of recycled steel, contributing to the circular economy – a production and consumption model centered around maximizing the reuse of products. While zero-emission steel is applicable for Philippi-Hagenbuch’s entire range of engineered-to-order products, it is particularly beneficial for complete body replacements such as HiVol Bodies, HiVol Water Tanks, and Rear Eject Bodies.

Durability and Sustainability

According to Philippi-Hagenbuch, their zero-emission solutions deliver the same benefits and specifications as those made from traditional SSAB steel without sacrificing durability or abrasion resistance. Although choosing zero-emission steel may raise product costs, it allows customers to benefit from carbon credits and engage in projects that emphasize sustainability, aiding them in achieving their eco-friendly goals.

Informed Decision Making

Philippi-Hagenbuch provides thorough calculations for both steel options, enabling clients to make informed decisions regarding the material choice for their products.

Enhancing Environmental Measures

The company further noted, “Zero-emission steel represents an additional environmental initiative that complements the existing benefits of Philippi-Hagenbuch’s products. Each product is custom-engineered to help customers maximize the potential of their haul trucks, promoting sustainable practices. For instance, water tanks reduce dust and environmental particulates while ensuring efficient spraying, thereby minimizing fuel usage through reduced backtracking. Truck bodies, tailgates, and sideboards increase hauling capacity, resulting in fewer trips and less fuel consumption per tonne transported.”
