Transformation After COVID-19
Jacquemiel White, 47, relocated from the Bronx to Jersey City about ten years ago for a job at FedEx in Newark. Afterward, he transitioned to collecting medical waste but had to leave that position due to back pain.
A Life-Changing Experience
Last March marked a turning point when he contracted COVID-19. “It hit me hard on the third day,” White recounted.
Health Scare
During this illness, he experienced severe breathlessness while climbing stairs, forcing him to lie down on the floor. “It really affected me. I dropped from 210 pounds to 180… it made me realize I needed to change,” he explained.
New Directions
With his back issues and a fresh perspective on health, White began seeking new opportunities.
An Entrepreneurial Spirit
Motivated by a friend who runs a juice bar in Brooklyn, he contemplated opening a similar establishment in Hackensack. “Watching him prepare juice made me think, ‘We need this in Hackensack,'” he expressed.
Opening Juice Cafe: Organic Market
Over the summer, White discovered a location on Main Street and started the process of launching Juice Cafe: Organic Market, which will feature natural smoothies, juices, and cold-pressed drinks.
Upcoming Launch
He anticipates opening the store next month at 260 D, Main St., Hackensack.
